Winter Break!

5:41 PM

I'M BACK!  I know it's been so long since I've written in this, but I've been so busy with work in these last few weeks of the quarter.

I felt like I was constantly thinking about what had to be done, what how long I had to do this thing, what I still needed to change on one of my stories, etc.  I was especially driving myself crazy over my final Fiction Writing story because I really wanted to do it justice and give it the amount of work and attention that I felt it deserved.  I left school on Saturday (Mom drove up and picked me up), and I've been enjoying being back home again, but these past few days I still haven't exactly been on break yet because I've been working continuously on my Fiction Writing story... to the point where I've just been driving myself crazy.  But today's the day it's due online, and I FINALLY finished it a couple of hours ago and turned it in.  I'm still not completely sure how I feel about it.  I've been tossing a few details back and forth over whether I should include them and how I feel about the changes I made to it since I first wrote it (we're required to extend one of our stories to at least 20-25 pages for our final).  But there came a point eventually where I just had to step back and say, "It's done," and submit it.

As much as I could sit here and think about all of the ways I could possibly alter my story, it felt SO good to turn it in and overall I'm really proud of the level of work I put into this piece and it just feels so, so relieving to have that off my shoulders.  I still have one other final to submit online on Thursday for my other writing class, Queer Studies, but I'm not nearly as concerned about that one as I was about my Fiction Writing story, as it should be very stress-free wrapping up that story and I'm just about at the maximum page limit, so there's not much more I can add!  So, I am basically on Winter Break now!

After I submitted my story, I felt really good, so I decided to reward myself by taking a much-needed, long hot shower, which felt amazing.  Then afterwards I wrote the Thank You card that I'd been meaning to write to my aunt and uncle, after they generously sent me early Christmas money.  Mom saves tons of Christmas cards and envelopes that she gets free sometimes through the mail and she picked out a really lovely one for me to send, and I just think it's so cute!:

Matching envelope!
It's just such a cozy, festive card - perfect to give someone to get both of you into the holiday spirit.  And what better show to watch while writing in this card, then Ellen and her 12 Days of Giveaway! :)

So, that was my day.  The Thank You card is done and ready to be sent, and now I'm just sat here on the couch all cozy with the (gas) fireplace on, watching one of my favorite ol' Christmas movies, Mickey's Christmas Carol <3

It feels good to be home and now enjoying my break.
