Update on 9 Days Alone, and the Dogs!

1:45 PM

I just got back from a good run with Jessie, sweating profusely as usual, and I thought what better time to update my blog!

It is day 4 of the 9 days of being home alone.  A part of me thinks, Wow, already it's been 4 days!  Another part of me is looking at the long week ahead, at how many days are left between now and Sunday, and counting them down until my parents get back.  Hopefully this week will go by quickly.  I'm still mostly worried about keeping myself occupied from now until Sunday so that I don't go insane with loneliness, but so far it seems like I've had a routine going and things to keep me busy!

On that first Friday, I took the time in the morning to relax, eat my breakfast, and take Jessie for a walk.  Then later in the afternoon, I grabbed at the opportunity to spend some lovely time outside, laying on a blanket in the shade of the small Japanese tree in my backyard, the dogs laying near me as I read, Orange Is The New Black (which I'm so close to finishing!)

I don't think I read as much as I would've liked to, though, what with the dogs being too cute and my not being able to resist taking loads of pictures of them, and there were quite a few bugs buzzing around too that took some of the fun out of it.  The time that I did spend outside, at least, was for the most part really nice and relaxing.  It's nice, during the summertime, to be able to lay outside and read :)  Later that night was the beginning of the Harry Potter Movie Weekend on ABC Family, so I sat on the couch in the den with the dogs, watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

On the Second Day of being home alone, I had planned to take the bus to Value Village and indulge in some thrifty browsing - just something to get me out of the house and doing something with my day.  I was really in need of a shower, though - especially after coming back from my run with Jessie - and by the time I got out and let my hair air dry, it seemed too late in the day to go.  Plus, I had gotten a bit of a late start in the morning, which didn't help.  And I wasn't quite feeling up to it by that point anyway.  That's why I'm not a huge fan of showering during the day - after you've done it, you don't feel like doing anything but getting into some comfy pajamas and relaxing with your hair up in a towel all day!  So, after my shower I idled around the house, watching TV, getting on my laptop.  I think I might be getting things mixed up with when I watched Harry Potter movies.  I know that on Friday I only watched the first one late at night.  I think Day 2 is when I only watched movies 2 and 3.  Not that any of this is remotely important, haha!  It just bothers me when I can't remember what I did on what days... it shows how great my memory is!

Day 3 started off with me making a lovely Sunday jam toast and scrambled eggs breakfast!

Since I'm home alone, I felt like making myself a really nice, proper breakfast, whereas when my parents are here I usually just stick with toast alone or a bowl of cereal.  I've really been loving making myself nice breakfasts like these when I'm on my own, and it was such a delightful way to start off my Sunday! :)

I believe Day 3 was also  "Harry Potter movie day."  Although the Harry Potter Movie Weekend technically started on Friday, they only played the first movie, and on Saturday I only watched the next two movies, as I already said.  But yesterday was the day when I really got into Harry-Potter-movie-marathoning.  I wasn't up for doing anything else.  I just wanted to sit and watch Harry Potter.  And that is what I did, sitting through The Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows Part I, and I only managed to catch a small part of Deathly Hallows Part II.  It's okay though, because they were the most important parts for me, when Snape gives Harry his memories, and Harry realizes he must die, and he stops at the entrance of the Forbidden Forest (before surrendering himself to Voldemort) to reunite with his parents and Sirius and Lupin.  I can't tell you how much I love that scene in particular.  With Harry realizing that he has to die for others, it only makes sense for him to reunite with all of the people who sacrificed their lives for him, to tell him that they remained close with him all this time, and to discuss death with him as he himself would soon walk towards his death willingly.  Anyway, the reason why I only managed to catch those few moments of Part II is because I was busy watching the Season 2 finale of Orange Is the New Black on my laptop!  I'd been doing pretty poorly at finishing the second season.  I did a good amount of marathoning earlier in the summertime, but stopped about halfway through and hadn't gotten back into it since.  Yesterday I finally found my way back to Couchtuner and watched a few episodes (oh yeah, that's what else I did yesterday!), but I stopped right after watching the episode before the season finale.  I wanted so badly to watch the final episode right then, but it was already late in the evening and I was tired and ready for bed, so I decided that I would reserve a time the next day, specially for the season finale.  That was last night, and oh man, that was a good episode.  The last thing I want is to reveal any spoilers just in case an OITNB viewer who has yet to see the final episode happens upon my blog.  I'll just say that the ending was so satisfying!  Even though I kind of saw it coming and I had heard news floating around (just can't get away from those spoilers...), it still surprised me!  I think there were a couple of times during the episode, including the ending, when my mouth just dropped.  Gah, that show always delivers!

And now we have reached Day Four!  I slept in until around 9 this morning, getting up and fixing myself some good peanut buttered toast and a microwaved chocolate muffin (mmm, you need to try that) and sitting down to watch some Kelly and Michael.  After that, I forced myself to get off the couch so I could take Beasley and Jessie for a walk.  I started off with Beasley, since he really doesn't take very long walk at all.  By that, I mean, we can barely get to the end of the street before he'll stop right where he is, not budging no matter how many times you pull on his leash.  There's only a certain distance he'll go before he wants to head right back home.  Strange.  Thankfully, Jessie gives me more of a run than Jessie does, which is where I started off this post!

So yeah, so far my time alone has been pretty good and mellow.  It's been especially nice having my two doggies to keep me company in the day, and Beasley to keep me company at night when he lays at the foot of my bed.  They're not each others' best pals or anything, but for the most part Jessie and "Beez" have gotten along well.  Only a couple of times has Jessie given a little growl at him for getting in her way.  Jessie - always the bully and not one to easily share her owner.  I always get after her and tell her to be nice to Beasley, and she begrudgingly obeys and saunters off.  I do feel bad though, because I haven't been paying attention to her as much as Beasley, both because Beasley's the guest and I want to make him feel at home... and because he's just so darn cute!  Sometime this week my brother will be coming by to take Beasley though, as soon as he's done moving himself into the new house in Ballard.  I think he said he'd come by around Wednesday?  So after Beasley leaves (boo hoo), things will start to get back to normal and Jessie will have me all to herself.

Well, I had planned to actually do something today instead of lazing around the house yet again.  Unfortuately, I underestimate how long it actually takes for me to write these posts - and how many times I get distracted! - so it's almost 2!  Gosh, these days really are going by way too fast.  I had planned to walk to town to return my library books and maybe find something else to do there - maybe go shop around Dollar Tree or some other store and see if there's anything I'd like to buy with my spending money Dad gave me.  I feel like once it's 2, though, it's too late in the day.  It takes kind of awhile just to walk there, and before you know it I'm sure it won't be long before I'll have to walk back home for dinner.  Maybe I'll at least walk to the library and return my books, and maybe find some other books to check out.  Yeah, that sounds nice.  It's not too hot out today like the past few days have been, so it's the perfect weather to go out walking without dying of heat exhaustion!  And I really do need to get out.

Well, until next time!
