Home Alone For 9 Days
10:52 AMWell, it's official. My parents left at 6:30 this morning for their anniversary vacation in California, leaving me to have the house to myself for 9 days.
I think part of me is going to like it because it gives me a chance to try out living alone and being independent, which includes being responsible for my own meals, watering the yard/houseplants, keeping up the house, and possibly grocery shopping if I need to. I hope it doesn't go by too slowly, though - by that, I mean the bad slowly, where it feels like time is dragging and there's nothing to do and I'm left feeling depressed. It wouldn't be so bad if we lived in Seattle or some place where there's always something to do, somewhere to go. But here in my small town, there's only so much you can do. I'm hoping I can find enough things throughout the week to keep me entertained. Thankfully, this weekend is Potterhead weekend, where they're playing all of the Harry Potter movies in one weekend on TV! My dad also gave me $50 spending money. That nearly makes up for me being alone for 9 days. Well, I'm not completely alone. I have this little stinker to keep me company:

Ok, screw privacy concerns: this is too cute not too post! |
EEEE! He's my brother's dog, and his name is Beasley. I'm watching him through maybe Wednesday or Thursday while my brother, sister, and her boyfriend get themselves moved into their new house up in Ballard. He is the cutest, snuggliest little dog ever! He's always so calm and proper - and yes, he always has that serious expression on his face no matter what. He doesn't bark or anything. He'll just follow right on your heels, looking up at you with that face, and he loves to sit in peoples' laps. I can see why my brother wanted me to watch this little one while they're moving because it is seriously impossible to concentrate on anything when you're constantly getting distracted by his cuteness! It'll be so nice to have this little guy as company... and of course I'll have Jessie, too! I just took her for a walk, and that felt really good to get out early in the day. It's a nice, hot day, too. So, between having my two lovely dog companions as company, and finding little things to do every day to keep me busy, hopefully everything will go well. Here's to living on my own!
