Reading on a Rainy Day
6:00 PMIf I sit here and don't type, I can still faintly hear the rain coming down, pattering on our roof. Hearing the rain makes me feel a sense of calm, and sometimes I think it's like this... soul cleansing? I don't know what to call it, but I think it's some sort of cleansing - something to wash away all of the tension and stress and bad feelings we've been carrying and remind us that we can always make a fresh start. It could just be me thinking that of the rain, though. Everyone else seems to just think it's bad weather... ha! But sometimes it's nice to have stay-in rainy days. You know? A day to shuffle around the house with a blanket draped over your shoulders, looking out the windows at the blurry grey day, and being thankful for once to be indoors as you curl up on the couch with a good book. Daughters Of The Moon Series #1-4 by Lynne Ewing! |
Yay! I'm so excited to read this again! I fell in love with this series in high school and now I'm looking forward to some nostalgia reading it again. I remember when I first discovered this series, I would pick up one book and fly through it, eager to start on the next one. And, come on, it's a young adult book series about teenage girls with magical powers... and it's actually really good! The only thing is, I wanted to read the books the same way I did in high school: one by one and with the original covers. I looked on the library site, though, and the very first book in the series was already taken and wouldn't be available until September 18th at the least, which is when I'd be getting ready for going back to school. So, it was just easier for me to get this new edition book that combines the first three books of the series in one. I do miss those original covers, though... And I don't know what I'm going to do when I finish this because the darn library only has certain books from the series! Besides this book, they have the original 1, 2, 6, 7, 9, and 11. Gah, how am I supposed to work with that? So either I'd have to special request the rest of the books in the series (I'm not sure how long that would take...) or I might just have to buy the books myself. Now, I have a rule against buying books before I've read them to ensure that they're really good, but if it comes down to it and I have no other way to read the rest of the series, it just might have to come to that!
Anyway, it's just a slow Saturday and while a part of me hates being cooped up having another day of not doing much of anything, another part of me doesn't mind so much. So long as I have my Daughters of the Moon book to fall into and make me feel like I'm in high school again... and maybe I'll make a cup of hot chocolate, too! :)
Until then.

Hi, ..random enthusiast alert!
ReplyDeleteLovely post!
I've never heard of 'Daughters of the moon'.. personally I kind of find the whole 'teen girls with supernatural powers' to be pretty much overused.. like in W.I.T.C.H the book series, to name but one example.
Ironically, I was actually thinking of starting a YA mini-book on a girl who discovers she has the 'phoenix' inside her.. kind of a marriage between the 'Cat woman' concept and Jean from 'X MEN Last Stand'.. is it corny?
