A Day in Seattle!

9:31 PM

Oh my goodness, I just got back a little bit ago from a long day in Seattle with my Mom, and I am exhausted!  It was so much fun, though, and I felt like we did so much!  First, we stopped by the house that my brother, sister, sister's boyfriend, and boyfriend's friend recently moved into together, in Ballard.  I unfortunately have no pictures, but you have to take my word for it that it is such a cute house: two-story, light blue with white trim, a large front porch, and a lovely deck out of my sister's bedroom on the second floor.  My Mom needed to pick something up from my brother, and while we were there he gave us a tour of the house and then we took Beasley for a walk.  They live on such a nice street with lots of trees and there's a nice little park nearby, too, that we went to.

After we said goodbye to Nick and Beasley, we decided to go to the Ballard GoodWill on Nick's recommendation and browse around a little.  There was sooo much good stuff there!  But I had to narrow it down to these three purchases:

Lace short-sleeved top - $3.99

Short-sleeved black and white striped shirt - $4.99

Blue H&M skirt - $5.99

I found the skirt first and immediately thought it was cute, especially since it had pockets!  Always a bonus!  I then stumbled upon the lace shirt and immediately wanted to snatch it up, especially considering how low-priced it was.  I have a few lace dresses, but one thing that my closet was missing was just a basic lace top to wear with skirts.  I'm also so glad I found the black and white striped top, even though I know I just bought a similar top not long ago.  But I'm so paranoid with striped clothing.  The last few black and white shirts I've had ended up pilling quite badly and the black stripes ended up bleeding into the white and not looking as cute anymore...  Maybe it's just my paranoia, but I fear this is even starting to happen ever so slightly with the last few black and white striped tops I bought recently.  At a loss, I thought Will I ever own a black and white article of clothing that will stay niceAnd then I felt the fabric of this top at GoodWill and I instantly knew that this was the kind of fabric I was looking for, that seem like it will stay nice and durable for a long time.  Sure, maybe it's not as soft as my other two black and white striped tops, but I think that may be the key - the more soft something is, the more likely it will be to pill.  But even if this top isn't as soft, it's still great fabric and it also feels just light enough for summer.  So happy!

Right after I made my purchases, Mom got a call from my sister, who said she was sorry we just missed her at the house and wanted to come meet up with us.  We met up at this lovely coffee shop that I'd been to a couple of times before, Ballard Coffeeworks, and got ourselves caught up and had some snacks.  After that, we all decided to go to Golden Gardens Park, which, despite what the name suggests, is this amazing beach in Ballard.  It was a really hot day today, so it was the perfect day to go to the beach, walk along the sand, look out at the water, and feel the breeze (warning: picture overload below):

It was so gorgeous!  I loved every second of it.
After the beach, we decided to take my sister back to the house and say our goodbyes, but not before she gave us the tour of the upstairs (which we never got during my brother's tour) and I got to walk out to the deck out my sister and her boyfriend's room.  It really was so lovely, being able to look out at the street and the other houses of the neighborhood.  I only wish I can someday find a house like that in Seattle to live in someday <3

After saying our final goodbyes to my sister, she didn't let us leave without telling us about the Value Village - which is totally different from GoodWill - that we should stop by if we're going to stay in the area for a little while longer.  Haha, leave it to my two thrifty siblings to recommend nearby consignment stores.  So naturally, we decided to stop by the local Value Village and browse around.  But I was insistent.  I would not buy anything.  I would just look around.  And then I started thinking that I needed some very basic tops to wear with all my skirts.  It's easy to find floral tops to wear with my solid mustard yellow skirt.  But since I have quite a few floral skirts, it's harder to find non-patterned tops that will go well with them.  So, this happened.  Oops:

Black tank top - $3.99

Oh well.  It was incredibly cheap, so I didn't feel as bad, and it's a nice staple in my closet that I've really needed.  And look how good it looks with my mustard skirt!  I tried it on with my other floral skirts and it looks really nice with all of them, too :)  Black goes with pretty much everything, fortunately.  Plus, I just... don't seem to have very many basic tank tops like this?  It's definitely something else I'm going to need to stock up on, especially since I've been dying lately with how it's been!  I feel like I'm coming across as a major shopaholic in these last couple of posts I've made, but you have to take into account that I'm shopping on the very cheap, so really I'm getting a lot for a great deal.  That's what I like to tell myself anyway, haha!

After a long, fulfilling day, me and Mom decided we may as well stay in Seattle to get dinner before making the trip home.  We passed by this one burger place the last time we were in Seattle and promised ourselves we'd eat there the next time we found ourselves in the city, so this time around we stopped there.  It's called Five Guys Burgers and Fries.  We were both really in the mood for some no non-sense hamburgers and fries that didn't taste like any old fast food joint, this place did not disappoint - the food was so good.

You know fries are good when you can still see the potato skin on them - Yum!!

If you're ever in the Ballard area, I highly recommend stopping by Five Guys Burgers and Fries for a bite!

Whew!  So now you know why I was completely wiped out by the end of the day (the long, traffic-infested drive home didn't help much).  I always love any opportunity to take a day trip to my favorite city, but this was by far the most fun day I've had there in a long time <3

Until my next post!
