Society 6 Review!

Hello, Internet!

So, there's this website that I've been eyeing for a long time. In my free time, I would scroll through pages and pages of their items, completely falling in love with everything I saw. Maybe you've heard of this site. It's called Society6. It's essentially a marketplace for freelance artists to sell their original artwork, in the form of a wide range of products, from prints to mugs to T-shirts to tote bags and more.

Recently, I finally decided to indulge a little and actually purchase a few things from this site. (And, well, it helped that it was a free shipping/20% off sale. Yesss!) With that, I thought it would be fun to give you a show-and-tell of what all I bought and to give my own little review of sorts about this really cool site. Let's go!

I was very lucky in that all of my packed arrived right on time, on the same day. Now, it wouldn't truly be an unboxing without showing you the packages pre-opened, would it? Here they are in their special Society6 packaging. In the boxes were the mugs that I ordered, while the sacks had my tote bag and carrying pouch.

The first thing I unboxed were the three mugs. And just... look at them!!!

Right: Little Deer mug

The mugs were by far my favorite part of my Society6 order. They're actually really good-quality mugs, and the artwork on them is so vivid and eye-catching in person. These also have a very autumnal/winter feel to them, so I'm definitely going to be enjoying drinking out of these in the colder months!

Tote Bag...
The next item that I ordered was a tote bag, which I actually desperately needed. My old tote bag that I've held near and dear since high school is now deteriorating, and I just needed a few good tote bags for carrying around books and things during visits to the library and downtown.

I didn't want just any old tote bag, though. Firstly, since this bag would mostly be used to carry library books, I wanted it to be book-related. I also wanted it to be something special that caught people's eye. With that, I decided on this Harry Potter-related tote with a famous quote that's very personal and special to me.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this tote. I love the quote on it, and it has nice, strong straps that should stay tough against everyday wear and tear. I will say that this bag isn't as large as I thought it'd be. I bought the 16 x 16 size and saw previews of this bag size on Society6's website, and it looked rather large. But in person, it doesn't quite look as big. It definitely has more straight-up-and-down depth than it does width.

Since the tote isn't quite as wide as I thought it'd be, carrying books is going to be a bit awkward. Lengthwise, I think I can only fit three or four books in a row. So I'm definitely going to have to stack books if I get more.

I thought it would be interesting to see just how many books I could fit in this bag, and I found that this bag can hold about 9 books in it.

I probably could've fit a few more books in the bag, such as squeezing some in on the sides. But I didn't want to press my luck and have the tote split or tear under the weight.

**Update!**

I recently got a chance to try out my new tote bag while on a trip to the library! I had a lot of books to cart back home, so this tote definitely served its purpose.

Aaand since buying this tote bag, I couldn't help myself and bought another Harry Potter tote from Society6, this 9 3/4 one in a gorgeous burgundy. And. I. LOVE IT.

This one is definitely more of a nice, neutral tote. I love how elegant it looks... you almost wouldn't know it's Harry Potter-related unless you looked carefully and caught the reference ;-) With the warm colors of this tote, it's going to be really nice to carry around during the autumn months.

Carrying Pouch...

The other thing I've been desperately needing is a carrying pouch that I can put all my miscellaneous items into and make my purse feel more organized. I was really, really drawn to this one and, next to the mugs, it's probably my favorite of the items that I ordered.

I absolutely love this pattern. I think it's so colorful and eye-catching, and it's actually been a huge game-changer with organizing my purse.

What's interesting about this pouch is the gold zipper, which I'm not sure how I feel about. While it's definitely a striking feature on the pouch, I've noticed that it doesn't quite zip up as smoothly as an ordinary zipper might. The "teeth"/tracks are much thicker than a regular zipper, and because of that, it's much clumsier trying to zip it up. Maybe I'm just thinking of the worst case scenario, but I can see this zipper getting stuck a lot in the future. But hopefully that doesn't happen, and this is basically the only very minor issue I had with the pouch.

The one really cool thing that I immediately noticed and loved about this pouch is that... it comes with an inside pocket!

Inside pockets are the BEST!

This is such a great bonus to this pouch, as it'll allow me to hold that much more and especially be perfect for carrying smaller items, such as tweezers, chapstick, and the like. Also, I found it a bit funny that the smaller carrying pouch had an inside pocket, yet the tote bag didn't...

* * *

Well, there you have it—that is my Society6 haul! Overall, I'm really happy with all of these items. What I absolutely love about Society6 is that there's so much variety and thousands of designs to choose from. It makes it that much easier to find the perfect artwork and product that speaks to you. And best of all, it helps support digital artists! This might just be one of my favorite sites to purchase from now.
