I am by no means someone you would consider a fashion guru.  I don't read up on the latest high-end fashions in magazines, nor pay attention to What's In This Season or What That Celebrity Is Wearing.  However, that doesn't mean I have no interest in fashion at all or have nothing to share with you!

I adore fashion because I love being able to establish my own look that is personal to me.  That's what we all look for when shopping, right?  Clothes that suit us, make us feel comfortable in our own skin.  Clothes are a way for us to express ourselves.  I didn't plan on this blog being a fashion blog, and I still don't see it being 100% that, but I thought it would be interesting to have a few posts here and there about some of my fashion finds.  One of the ways my style represents who I am is the fact that I love finding clothes that are inexpensive but also like hidden gems.  I'm someone who's very practical and not one to easily throw money here and there on clothes that cost more than they should be.  I love finding the best deals that I know I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else, and on clothes that are really cute, too!  I love that too good to be true feeling, that  satisfaction you get, knowing you've outsmarted all those high-end stores that want you to believe you have to spend a fortune to look good ("ha, in your face!").   I know I'm not the only one out there who loves these special fashion finds, so I thought I would occasionally share my own finds on this blog for you thrifters to see, and hopefully to inspire others to go out and shop on the cheap, too! :)

Now, I'm not quite a summer person.  I like the sunshine, don't get me wrong, but I don't do very well in hot weather and I typically find it more challenging to dress for the summertime than in the winter.  I love winter fashion.  I could shop for cozy sweaters all day.  Because I love sweaters a little too much, this left me feeling helpless, staring into my closest, as the weather started getting warmer.  I had a few cooler tops, but not much.  I was really in need of some basic tops that I could wear in the summertime, whether for walking out in the sunshine, lounging around the house, or going on a bike ride.  One day, me and Mom walked into Target and, noticing all the new summer wear in the clothing department, went in to browse around.  It wasn't long before Mom waved me over to a table with piles of different colored T-shirts and a sign above that read 2 for $14.  They were just the thing I was looking for and they had such a variety of different colors, but in the end I chose three.  The two cost $14, and buying one more was an extra $9, so altogether (plus tax) I believe the final total was around $25.  I'd say that's pretty good, considering that's what one shirt costs at some stores.  These shirts are so comfy and seem like they're really good quality!

Lighter colors like cream and beige are my favorite because I think they're simple but also compliment me well.  It's nice to know there's a color that I'll always look good in, so I got a nice creamish-colored top first.

I've also been meaning to add more stripes to my closet, especially shirts that are primarily black with white stripes like below

I also got this striped shirt, which is more white with black stripes.  I have a few of this style in my closet already, but not of the "light shirt variety."  They're either longer in length or with longer sleeves, so this was a nice little top to add to the collection!  I love that it's a shirt I can either dress down with (like below) or dress up with if I wanted to add a bold-colored accessory to give it that extra pop.  I wore this on Thursday when me, my mom, and sister had a day in Seattle, and I wore my bright red sunglasses with it :)

It especially pairs well with my mustard yellow skirt! (Forever21)

So there you have it!  That's my first official fashion post on this blog.  I hoped you like it!  Again, I'm not a fashion blogger primarily, so hopefully over time I'll get better at this! ;D
